Amy Lannen's - Oreo Chuckles

Fun recipe for the little ones!

1 Normal size package of Oreos (or generic chocolate sandwich cookies with cream in the middle)
1 brick of Original Philly cream cheese
1 package of milk chocolate bark (or any chocolate candy coating found in the baking isle)
1 package of white chocolate bark

You'll also need:
Wax paper
Food processor or chopper

Grind entire package of Oreos in food processor until no large pieces remain. They will almost resemble a powder. Using clean hands, mix softened cream cheese with Oreo powder. This is a bit messy so make sure you've put the Oreo powder in a large mixing bowl. After a few minutes of blending you should have one large ball. Form this into small truffle-sized balls.

Heat chocolate bark according to directions on package. The pieces won't melt in the microwave and they'll still appear solid and hard until you stir them with a spoon. Should be a smooth, liquid chocolate look to it when you're done stirring. If not, microwave for another 20-30 seconds until smooth when stirred. Then you're ready to coat. If the Oreo balls get too warm and soft, place the balls in the refrigerator for about 30-60 minutes or freezer for about 15 minutes before dipping in chocolate coating. When you're ready, drop balls one at a time into dipping chocolate. If find using a spoon is easiest here. Use a spoon to cover ball in chocolate and then scoop the ball up with the spoon and tap the spoon gently against the side of the bowl until the top of the ball looks smooth. Gently roll off spoon onto wax paper. Some of the chocolate coating will pool at the bottom of the truffle, that's ok! Make sure you put them on tinfoil or wax paper or you'll have a time getting them off! :) I've done that before.

When you're done coating all the balls in your choice of white or milk chocolate allow the coating to harden. Should only take about 5 minutes. Then the fun part. Using a small sandwich bag, pour some dipping chocolate of opposite color into the bag. Aka, if you are finishing milk chocolate balls use white chocolate for this step. Fill the bag only half way and then snip the tiniest bit off the corner of the bag. Start the flow of chocolate and then run your line across the whole batch of balls vertically and then horizontally. This will create a pretty criss-cross pattern on each ball. If you'd like to use colored sugar or other sprinkles instead you'll need to apply them before the chocolate coating has hardened. Get creative, they'll look great when you're done.

Then you're done! It sounds involved but it's very simple and fun. Your kids can help with nearly every part of this recipe so it's great for families. Put the "chuckles" in a pretty tin for Christmas parties and you're sure to be invited back the following year! I know from experience. :)
