FLORIDA MOM MAGAZINE - November '08 - Party Like a Rockstar Story: Robert Candler
What do you get after spending four 10-hour days at the Southern Women's show, and a follow up evening entertaining 500 kids at the Chick fil A Fall festival? The ability to party like a Rock Star!
I had no idea what to expect after signing on to participate in the Southern Women's show. We arrived Wednesday afternoon to set up the Florida Mom Magazine booth in the Garden food section. We should have slept in that night, because the next four days were absolutely high-octane energy.
Thursday morning started with throngs of ladies hitting the FM booth asking for the latest issue and also for their Hollywood / Rockstar photos! Friday continued with more chaos as we threw out 500 Florida Mom Tshirts. I didn't know what a hot commodity they would be, but they disappeared fast. Things began to slow down that afternoon, until Chef Melinda Foley grabbed the cooking stage around 5pm and wooed the crowd with her delectable Key Lime Pie. We discovered it made more sense to place our FM stickers on the Moms, versus just giving them out. 4000 stickers later, we had merchants, security guards, and more ladies asking for this prized possession.
I wish we could take all of the credit for our booth being such a hit, but luckily we were situated next to the Melting Pot with a continously flowing chocolate fountain.
The fun only continued only Tueday night at Pablo Creeks Chick fil a's Fall Festival. More local merchants came out to support the kid's activities, including a Treat Trail, costume contest, and dancing to the DJ's music.
