You're a Yoga instructor?

I sustained a hip injury when I turned 40. It was unexpected, and it took me out of my normal routine. It was at this point that I was introduced to Yoga, and it immediately felt right. It was second nature. I didn't realize it, but I had been looking for something. Being a certified Yoga instructor allows me to use my spiritual gifts to teach others. I get to see attitude and self-esteem changes in them.

Where do you instruct?

I started teaching children's Yoga at the YMCA, but last September I switched to teaching Yo-God twice a week at Beach United Methodist. I have such a desire to exercise and be physically and mentally fit, and in Yo-God, I get that as well as a spiritual element.

That's fantastic! You mentioned high energy, what's your typical workout routine?

Of course I teach two Yoga classes per week, but I also roller-blade or run anywhere from three to five times a week. I also work out with weights once a week for about 40 minutes.

Who inspires you?

Joye McCrain, the founder of Yo-God, a Christian based Yoga practice. Also, Didier Razon. He teaches Yoga throughout Jacksonville.

Do you have a special diet?

I follow Weight Watchers' plan by countring calories. I lost 20 lbs. in six months, and I've been on maintenance for the last year and a half.
