 How long have you been working out at Dance Trance?
I have been working out with Dance Trance for about eight years. It's also where I met my husband, Chris who is a vice president for Bank of America, managing the architecture team for card and mortgage computer systems. I have been involved in some performances, which is a lot of fun, too. I usually work out four times a week and try to go to the breakdown choreography sessions as well.
What exactly is Dance Trance?
Dance Trance is a dance fitness class that offers the excitement of moving with the rhythm and attaining total mind and body deliverance through dance! It incorporates funk, Latin, jazz, hip hop and other types of rhythm movement to the beat of music from all genre's. People of all ages come and groove to the music! It is not a dance class, but a fitness class that uses dance to get the most out of a workout.
How does Dance Trance get women motivated to work out?
Dance Trance offers extremes in choreography and style, so the Dance Trance classes never get hung up on just one form of dance! There is a complete freedom, and unlike traditional dance, few rules! It's great for women who want to "get down" but aren't professional dancers.
How is Dance Trance a good workout for moms?
It is a wonderful stress-reliever and moms will feel better both physically and mentally after just one class. I also gained a lot of weight with each pregnancy, and was able to bounce back after just a couple months of doing Dance Trance classes.
How can moms find the time to work out there?
There are two locations: Neptune Beach at 214 Orange St. and in San Marco at 1515 San Marco Blvd. Classes are open seven days a week. Morning, lunchtime and evening classes are available. You can visit the website at www.dancetrancefitness.com for a complete schedule and class listings.
How do you balance owning a company and motherhood?
It's great because I can work from home and set my own hours.
Some of your future goals?
To let all moms know how important it is to find time to take care of themselves, and they will be much happier and better able to take care of their family.
Who inspires you?
I would have to say Heidi Klum. She is in amazing shape and has a great career, and has three children!
Other ways you keep in shape?
I usually do light weights about two times a week and even try to do some surfing in the summer. I’m also a big believer in organic foods, limit my intake of meat and snack on small meals throughout the day.
