 Miss America 2008 Helps Raise
$56,000 for Daniel Kids
Jacksonville, FL — Miss America 2008 Kirsten Haglund was the guest of honor at two recent daniel fund-raisers, which collectively raised more than $56,000 for the oldest child-service agency in Florida.
The first gathering was a pre-event reception and dinner at Deerwood country club on September 1, offering some 140 attendees the opportunity to visit with Miss America 2008 Kirsten Haglund in an elegant, intimate environment. Haglund also served as the guest of honor at the Ladies Auxiliary Fashion Show Luncheon at the Marriott Southpoint on September 12.
Haglund addressed the crowd of 275, noting her personal platform about eating disorders. She connected that mission with daniel, noting the importance of children’s self-esteem as well as her belief that intelligence, strength and inner beauty should be valued above all else. The fashion show itself featured fall fashions from Belk. Belk representatives also surprised daniel President and CEO Jim Clark by donating $5,000 donation to the cause. Following the fashion portion, Haglund donned her crown and performed an uplifting song.
Net proceeds from the event will go toward the construction of a non-denominational chapel on the daniel campus. |
