It doesn't matter whether or not your talking about Turkish,Cappuccino, Espresso, or just Black, coffee is one of the world's most consumed drinks, second only to water. It has a unique history, an extensive farm to market process, and of course it's an integral part of today's modern, on-the-go society.

Coffee, or the Persian equivalent, Ghahveh, is generally accepted to have been discovered in Ethiopia in the 9th century. It was orignally used for it's 'medicinal' puposes, but was liked for it's taste and eventually became a pleasurable drink. From there it spread throughout Africa, into Italy, across Europe, and into the Americas.

Grown from a seed around the world near the equator, Coffee comes in two varieties, Robusta and Arabica. Robusta is the more bitter and tends to have less flavor than Arabica, which planted in 75% more fields. Once harvested, the outside fleshy part is removed and the seed isthen fermented and dried. At this point the seeds are then selected for roasting. This roasting process determines the almighty caffeine content, as well as the the color and flavor of the bean. Higher temperatures create darker roasts and caffeol oil, which is chiefly responsible for coffee's alluring aroma.

Socially, coffee is a must-have-now, morning kick start. That first cup, fortified with caffeine, helps stir the senses, raising your heartbeat and giving you that early am boost. It's also a great way to relax over conversation at a local coffee house, like Coffee Bistro in Jax Beach.

Coffee today exudes that richness of spirit, the flavorful aromas that percolates and allows us to savor life.

Resolutions / Goals:

Belinda: To focus more on the small pleasures rather than large ones. To really savor each moment on my sons life. And to attend confession at least once per month.
